Customer Feedback

“I am equally impressed with the professional and efficient manner in which you were able to maneuver the boat, clear the lines and prep the boat to in order to land this massive fish. I didn‘t even realize the work that you were doing for my benefit until we had the fish netted and in the boat. To me, that is the best advertising for your business! Showing me how well you do your job speaks louder than anyone telling me how well they can do their job. Blackfeather Charters really knows their stuff.”

Another fine day

The salmon were biting well today and we managed to get some very nice coho in the boat. The wind was a little stiff, so we were only able to get on a chicken spot for halibut, but sometimes you just have to work with what the weather gives you.

Making good from bad

Both Blackfeather and Salt Air Charters were off today due to a two boat cancellation, so knowing us, we went fishing together.
Gord hooked into this great 37 pound chinook with the Okuma Cavalla mooching rod and reel combo. What a great setup for playing fish in a traditional method. I managed to hook into another monster which actually broke the rod before it got off the hook. Would have liked to seen that one!!
The rest of the day was complete with our fill of coho and halibut, and made for a great day on the water.

Solid day of fishing

Yesterday we managed to land some great salmon and halibut. The catch total was 14 coho and 2 spring salmon, and three halibut weighing in at an impressive 109, 53 and 12 pounds each.
With the massive tides we have right now, there was a very short window to work for our halibut, and we were lucky to land these three fish in less than 40 minutes. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't - but that is fishing for you!

109 pound Halibut

The big halibut seem to like us right now. In the past week, we have landed a 197 lb, 109 lb, 92 lb and 53 lb halibut along with a number of chickens. It is great to see these big fish around.
Here is a picture of Dave holding his terrific 109 pounder.

16 salmon and 5 halibut

Today was a great one on the water. The wind was light in the morning and we made the most of the break by hooking and landing plenty of salmon. The afternoon NW wind picked up to a beefy 15 knots, but we managed to pull in 5 nice halibut for our crew from Nelson to take home with them.
