The word has just come down that the halibut season which opened on Feb. 1, 2010, will have a slight reduction in fishing that resembles what happened last year. The Ministry has decided that we are allowed one haibut per day, and a possession of two. This means that it will take two days of fishing to limit out on halibut this again summer. Late into the season last year, we saw an increase from the 1/2 back to the 2/2 that we have traditionally fished. I hope they consider the same for this year, but for now, we are back to the same old game of one per day.
