As many of you know, this past year we outfitted our deep sea halibut gear with the new Okuma Cedros speed jig rods, and the results were exceptional. We have never fished such sensitive rods that had the strength to pull in monster halibut. It is remarkable to say that you can actually feel the fish nibbling on the bait, prior to inhaling it, at depths over three hundred feet in water that is never at rest. We have been so impressed with these rods, that we contacted Okuma to give them some field-tested opinions on their equipment. As a result, we have been offered a spot in Okuma’s Captain/ Guide Program. As a charter operator, Okuma recognizes that we are in a great position to put their equipment through the paces and provide feedback to them.
