Customer Feedback

“I am equally impressed with the professional and efficient manner in which you were able to maneuver the boat, clear the lines and prep the boat to in order to land this massive fish. I didn‘t even realize the work that you were doing for my benefit until we had the fish netted and in the boat. To me, that is the best advertising for your business! Showing me how well you do your job speaks louder than anyone telling me how well they can do their job. Blackfeather Charters really knows their stuff.”

2012 Halibut season

We have just heard that the 2012 halibut season is opening on March 1st. This is good news, as some thought the season would open later.

The catch limits are yet to be set by DFO, so once we know what the daily and possession limits are, we will post them here.

For now, we are all happy...

Adventure fishing

I was just going to put the camera from the boat away for the winter when I thought I should check the memory card.

On it was a record of the most eventful trip I had this summer with Jim, Mark and Mike. We actually had some summer weather, which was the only only summer we enjoyed... I think it was Thursday and Friday!

We had a great time, and other than catching an anchovy setup in my nose (lol!), it was a trip to remember.

Here is a pic of from one of the days.

Merry Christmas

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

This year, we had the best Christmas present ever with our son, Carson, being born just a few days ago. This will be a Christmas to remember.

Best of wishes to everyone!

2011 Contest Draw

We have finished dumping all of our entry forms into a bucket, and have just drawn a winner!

But before we get to the goods, we would like to acknowledge our sponsor. We are so happy to have the support from Okuma on this contest. They have donated a terrific Tech Jacket for us to give away to one of our lucky clients both this year and in 2010. Okuma has been a fantastic partner for us and we are looking forward to years of fishing together. See all of their products online at: www.okumafishing.com

Everyone knows that we are running Okuma products on the Blackfeather now, and our clients are providing us with great feedback on the equipment. We have made an impression with the local charter fleet with the outstanding Makaira reels and Cedros Speed jig rods as our halibut setups. This coming season, you will see Okuma's SST salmon rod and Clarion reel combos as the first line equipment for hauling in those monster spring salmon and coho.

Now, back to the contest winner...

We are very pleased to offer the Tech Jacket to Dave Appleby from McBride, BC. Congratulations Dave!! Here is a picture of the Applebys out with us this past summer.

Thanks to all of our clients for fishing with us this past 2011 season. We can't give all of you one of these great jackets, but we will offer our heartfelt thanks for fishing with us and we hope to see you out again with us this coming season.

Merry Christmas everyone from your crew at Blackfeather Charters,

Capt Fred, Jeff and Sandy

Only 20 days away from this year's draw!

During the past two seasons, we have been fortunate to have Okuma Fishing donate a fantastic Tech Jacket for our annual draw.

Last year, Pat Shrode won this jacket and he brought it out fishing with him this summer. I liked it so much that I bought one for Fred, Sandy and one for myself.

These are great fleece jackets, with four convenient pockets, and a wind stopping liner. They are really comfortable and look sharp. I am impressed with them as much as I am with the Makaira reels and Cedros jig rods that we use for our halibut fishing. Whoever wins this draw will be happy.

We will call the winner in the first week of December, and Okuma will ship the jacket to them directly from the head office. Stay tuned to see who the lucky winner will be this year.
